Content Understanding Goal |
How do we motivate students to use their agency and to provide depth, and elaboration into their writing? We will empower students through low stakes circumstances that will destigmatize them from the fear of being wrong, present in their current perception of writing.

Students will be able utilize personal experience to convey experiences through descriptive details and precise words and phrases.

"A"Student "A" is a proud member of the LGBTQIA community. She is an articulate, deep thinker who participates passionately. Without structure and support on getting started, freedom with writing can make her feel overwhelmed.

"B"Student "B" is a student that loves sharing her thinking in class. Sometimes, she loses her train of thought while sharing verbally; this can also be seen in her writing.

"C"Student "C" is a social, friendly athlete! He receives IEP support, including writing goals and supports to help with his hyperactivity. With writing, he has a difficult time articulating his thinking.

Debrief and discussion included all research participants. The discussion included observations of both classes, not just the class with the focal students.
